Cheesy

January 27 - February 2, 2002

Cheesy originally came into the KNAC.COM chatroom under the nick Cheesy_80s_Metal_Guy in February or March of 2001. He got his nick from a friend because of his taste in music. Since the original name was a little long, he shortened it to Cheesy. Cheesy admits to being a very proud Canadian from Saint John, New Brunswick. (http://www.new-brunswick.net/Saint_John/enter.html) He would, however, love to visit California someday to see some of the roomies. "And also to steal some of that sunshine you guys are hogging there! LOL"

Cheesy's fave DJ was, and still is, TheRack. "She and DiRGE are off to Texas now, so I want to wish them the best of luck there. You two and 'the kids' have fun." Since TheRack left Cheesy has been checking out some of the other DJ's shows including EvereadyEd, DJWill, Diana Deville, Spyder, and Junkman. He wouldn't name names on the subject of his fave roomies. He says he has lots of friends in the chatroom and in trying to list them all he'd probably forget a few, making someone feel left out. In view of that he says, "If you're a roomie I like, you know it!. Insert your name here ______________!"

The funniest thing that's ever happened to him in the chatroom was having a guy hit on him, thinking he was a female. Something else that happens on occasion that Cheesy finds funny is, "... when you think you're carrying on a pretty good conversation with one roomie only to find out that they are chatting with someone

else and have no idea what you are talking about! LOL" The most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to him in the chatroom was when he logged in after having a few drinks out at the clubs. "I really can't type for shit when I'm drunk, LOL. If you've ever been in there when I'm online and drunk, you know what I mean!"

Cheesy, who is single, says his biggest hobby is the collecting of Heavy Metal/Hard Rock CDs. His collection consists of over 700 CDs and other than three of them they are all Metal/Hard Rock. When we asked him if there was anything about himself that he considered kinda freaky that he wouldn't mind everyone knowing, Cheesy told us that he was pretty accident prone as a kid. He's been hit by a car, run over by a 4x4, and had big rocks hit him in the head. "SMACK, OWWWW!!!!" He admits that his hair grows pretty fast and that he's grown it to about two feet in length. He's cut it off twice since Jr. High and is thinking about growing it again.

When asked to name his fave bands Cheesy became less diplomatic, admitting to liking a lot of different types of music. "I don't just listen to metal, but it is the only type of music that I buy. I listen to pretty much anything, I'll give anything an honest listening to at least once, no matter what style it is." His list of fave bands includes Sevendust, Stuck Mojo, Iron Maiden, W.A.S.P., Union Underground, Whitesnake, Anthrax, Stryper, Harem Scarem, Godsmack, Carcass, hed P.E., Limp Bizkit "Let the whining begin", Metallica "More fuel for the fire, LOL", Dokken, Def Leppard, Poison, Firehouse, KoRn, Van Halen, MuDvAyNe, Racer X, and Britny Fox.

Cheesy says that his most memorable concert was Iron Maiden's first night of the Ed Hunter World Tour with the full 6 member line-up. "The band was in town all week long practicing for the world tour. The line up for the show was Voivod, Machine Head, and Iron Maiden but Machine Head had to pull out of the tour. I worked in a music store at the time and had the opportunity to get backstage passes. We got to the show early and went to the meet & greet. Adrian Smith was the only member of Maiden who wasn't able to attend. I was amazed at how short the guys in Maiden really were! LOL They were really nice to the fans and press. They laughed and joked

with us about the city, and Dave had that famous ear to ear smile of his. Nicko was the only one who seemed to be taller than 5'5"! LOL The show was incredible. Seeing Eddie in the flesh (sort of) was a thrill and seeing them jumping and running around on stage was very inspiring. One of the funny things that happened was that Bruce would yell out 'Scream for me St. John!' Of course, if you are from Canada, you know this is a big no-no, LOL. Everytine he screamed St. John's, we'd scream back "SAINT JOHN!!!" He caught the mistake and made a joke about his age and memory. This was the first big show that I'd seen with real pyros and I blew my voice out because I sang so loudly. During the encore they played one of my favourite Maiden songs, Stranger in a Strange Land and nailed it perfectly! When they did Number of the Beast the whole arena sang along. I thought that was the coolest thing, especially if you understand the city I live in, LOL. The one thing I regret is that I didn't go to the after show M&G. A friend of mine went and the band took some of those fans back to the hotel bar with them to celebrate some of the crew members' birthdays, D'OH! Oh well, next time I guess."

Cheesy also recalls a Harem Scarem show at the Aquarius on their tour for the Mood Swings CD. It is a small venue and they got to meet the band afterwards. "They were really cool and hung around the bar until closing just answering questions and having a few drinks. They had some great Canadian road stories, LOL."

Besides KNAC.COM, Cheesy visits http://www.alc.ca/ Atlantic Lotto's website "Unfortunately, it's never good news. I never win, waaaaaah, LOL", http://www.metal-sludge.com/MainPage.htm "The Sludge rules!", http://www.muchmusic.com/loud/ "MuchMusic's Metal videoshow which is on Saturday nights at midnight here", http://www.caranddriver.com, KNAC roomies personal websites "Gotta love The Dumb-Ass Pages, lol", and "Too many band sites and porn sites to list, LMFAO!" Cheesy remembers reading articles in Metal Edge about KNAC 105.5 when he was a kid. He thinks it's cool that KNAC is an online station now. It's special to him because it gives him the opportunity to hear the station that he dreamed about being able to hear when he was young. He also loves going into the chatroom and hanging out with all of the friends that he's made. "And, it's the Loudest Dot Com on the Planet!!!! How's that for a gratuitous plug! LOL"
